Your Q-Wiki’s title is what users will see when they browse the Q-Wiki site, or in search results from Q-Wiki or on an external search engine, such as Google. For that reason, it’s important to give your Q-Wiki the best, most specific title you can.
Enter the title for your Q-Wiki is simple—just type (or paste) the title of your choice into the appropriate field.
When you eventually save your Q-Wiki (after you’ve also written an introduction and the content for your article), the title will get saved too.
Three Rules for Choosing a Q-Wiki Title
When writing a title, there are three things to consider:
- Remember that all Q-Wiki titles automatically start with “How to”: As you can see from the image above, all Q-Wiki titles automatically start with the words “How to”. Make sure the title you works with a “How to” beginning. For instance, if you were writing a Q-Wiki on how to tie your shoes, you would write in the words “Tie Your Shoes” so that the final title would be “How to Tie Your Shoes.”
- Make your title specific and descriptive: The more specific your title, and the better it describes the topic that you’re covering, the easier it will be for interested readers to find your article. Try to think of your title in terms of how readers might search for it. For instance, instead of giving a Quamut Wiki the title “How to Make an Excellent Pasta Dish” it’s much better to use the more specific “How to Make Spaghetti Alio e Olio”.
- Titles can’t be edited once saved: Once you’ve saved your Q-Wiki, the title can’t be edited, so be careful when choosing your title—it’s permanent.
