You can easily create links in a Q-Wiki using the Q-Wiki Content Editor.
Guidelines for Creating Links on Q-Wiki
You can make links that point to other Q-Wikis, or to any other page on the Internet. Links that point to other Q-Wikis are called internal links, while those that point to pages from other sites are called external links.
- Internal links: You can insert internal links directly into the main content of a Q-Wiki. For instance, if you were writing a Q- Wiki on How to Whistle with Your Pinkies, you might want to include a link in your text that points to the Q-Wiki on How to Whistle Using Two Hands.
- External links: External links should be included at the end of your article in a separate section entitled “External Links.” For specifics on the types of external links that are acceptable for inclusion in a Quamut Wiki, see the Q-Wiki External Links Policy.
Creating Links with the Q-Wiki Content Editor
The Q-Wiki Content Editor makes it extremely easy to create a link:
- Select the text (or other content, such as an image) that you want to make a link.
- Click on the Insert/edit link button
. - A Links pop-up window will appear.

- In the Link URL field, enter the link’s complete URL, such as http://www.quamut.com.
- In the Target field, select whether you want the new page to open in the same window, or to open a new window.
- In the Title field, type in the title of the link. The title should describe the site to which you are linking.
- Click Insert.
How to Edit a Link
If a link is broken (points to a web page that doesn’t exist) or is incorrect in some other way, you can edit it to fix it. To edit a link, select the text in the link and click on the Insert/edit link button. The Links pop-up will open, and you can modify the fields.
How to Break a Link
If you want to remove a link completely from some text, you can use the Unlink button
to do that. Highlight the text in the link that you want to eliminate, and click the button.
